This book was written by Marge Heegaard. The subtitle, Children can learn to cope with grief from Divorce, is the focus of the book. With space and prompts for children to draw their feelings, this book helps children through the thoughts and emotions that come as parents get separated and divorced. There are instructions in the front of the book along with book suggestions for parents. The prompts are designed to help children walk through the process of recognizing their feelings. The prompts are simple but not easy. Reading through this as an adult it is hard to imagine what I might have drawn as a child. I think children are freer to express their feelings through drawings.

As parents it might be hard to see the honest responses. Children may not want to share their drawings and/or feelings right away with parents but will likely need some guidance as they work through it. This book would be great in a counseling setting or in a safe environment. It is a good guide to help children through some hard questions and thoughts. Maybe even a good book for parents to read through and try to imagine what their children might be feeling.

Overall, I would suggest this book as a resource for children of divorce and parents as they love their children through a difficult time.
